Route announced for inaugural year of Tour of Alberta.

Strathcona County … Some of the world’s top professional cyclists will soon be racing close to 900-kilometres across Alberta, from the streets of its capital city, Edmonton, through the province’s heartland, across prairies, badlands and majestic Rocky Mountains to a fast-paced finish circuit in streets of Calgary in the first and largest stage race ever held in Canada — the Tour of Alberta, September 3 to 8, 2013.

Canadian Association for Sport Heritage Conference Brings Delegates from Seven Provinces in Canada together to “Share Ideas in Sport Heritage”

The Canadian Association for Sport Heritage (CASH) is holding its annual conference at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame (located at Canada Olympic Park) in Calgary, Alberta from May 8-10th, 2013. The three day conference is bringing together over 40 delegates and speakers to share ideas in sport heritage.

Community Matters: From broken spine to broken records

Brian McPherson will never forget that day, August 22, 1995. For 45 minutes he laid limp on the same log where he had landed, the same spot where the ATV he was racing on crash landed on top of him crushing his spine, unable to move his legs.

Looking back, he calls this his “TSN turning point.” From this moment on, he knew his life would never be the same, but never in his widest dreams would he have thought he would turn his darkest moment into a career that would see him breaking records in an athletic career that spans three professional sports.

Synchro Canada’s 2013 Canadian Qualifier Championships

Calgary set to hold the biggest synchronized swimming event in Canadian history. - Synchro Canada

Nearly 600 synchronized swimmers, coaches and judges from across Canada will be at the Talisman Centre in Calgary (2225 Macleod Trail South), March 20-24, for Synchro Canada’s 2013 Canadian Qualifier Championships.

2013 Inductees - Four Edmontonians

Four Edmontonians inducted in Alberta Sports Hall of Fame .

Four Edmontonians will be memorialized in the 2013 Alberta Sports Hall of Fame for their tireless work to the world of sports. Former Olympic bronze medallist Blythe Hartley and former parolympian Dean Kozack will be inducted on the Athletes side. Meanwhile the ex Hockey Alberta President Orest Korbutt and Dr. Dru Marshall the former U of A women's Field Hockey Coach will be inducted in the builders category.
