In addition to numerous permanent galleries, the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum showcases a variety of changing exhibitions throughout its exhibit space. With thousands objects in the museum's collections, there’s always something new to discover.

These exhibits are located in the building's main lobby and free for all to see, so don't miss out!

2012 Inductees - Make a stop at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum to see an exhibition dedicated to our new inducted Hall of Fame Honoured Members.

Hometown Heroes - “Hometown Heroes” is a month long display which will feature a different prominent athlete, builder, or reporter from Red Deer each month of 2013. Come back to see who is highlighted as the year goes on.

Allan Cup & the Bentley Generals - Come check out the history of the Allan Cup in preparation for the Bentley Generals hosting the 2013 Allan Cup in Red Deer. Find out more about the cup since the Allan Cup was donated in early 1909 by Sir H. Montagu Allan to be presented to the amateur hockey champions of Canada.

Sutter Brothers - The 6 amazing hockey brothers from Viking Alberta are featured as part of the “100 years of Sport in Red Deer” exhibit. All of the boys played for the Red Deer Rustlers and they continue to support hockey in Red Deer. 

Calgary Cannons Baseball Team - This is the exhibit that will give you your BANG for your buck... not only is this exhibit accessible for FREE in our main lobby, but it also used to go BANG! Come see for yourself!

100 Years of Sport History in Red Deer

Facilities- Take a look at the many Red Deer sport facilities past and present which have helped shape the ideas of sports and recreation in the city.

Red Deer Hosts - Red Deer is a hub of sport in Central Alberta thanks to its location and facilities. But did you realize how often Red Deer plays hosts to National and International competition?

Hockey - Go Rebels Go! What came before the Rebels? Come and learn about the history of Men’s and Women’s professional hockey in Red Deer.

Baseball - Red Deer has an interesting history with the sport of baseball in the city. From one year in the pros to current baseball success, Red Deer’s history with the sport will not leave you disappointed. 

Curling - Starting on the frozen Red Deer River all the way to the opening of the new curling facility in 2013, there has been many ups and downs for the Red Deer Curling Club. 

Swimming - Do you remember swimming in the Outdoor Pool? Come and learn more about Red Deer’s two swim clubs.

Speed Skating - Red Deer is becoming known for its top end Speed Skaters. From Red Deer’s First Olympian Marcia Beckner through Kevin Sirois to Jeremy Wotherpoon come and discover what makes the Red Deer Lions Speed Skating Club so amazing!

Red Deer College - From its conception in 1964 the Red Deer Kings and Queens have maintained a strong athletic program. They have had many national championship wins and remarkable athletes come through the program. Stop by and see if you can recognize any names!

Reporting from Red Deer - Red Deer has been privileged to have some of the best sport reporters start, make, and finish their careers in the city. Can you name one?

Willie de Wit - This bronze bust captures Willie at the height of his boxing career.

Jenn Heil Collection - “Team, Joy, Courage, Focus and Dream” is the inspiration behind Jenn Heil’s bracelet.

Olympic Village Arch - This replica of the Transcanada Pipeline Arch greeted the athletes as they entered the Olympic Village during the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.

 

Museum Exhibits

Calgary Stampede Centennial - Come celebrate the Calgary Stampedes’ 100th Anniversary by visiting this new exhibition dedicated to the memorabilia of “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!”

Cycle Through Time - Follow the evolution of cycling from an early form of transportation through the rise of cycling as a competitive sport. Included are the many accomplishments of Leo Campbell, Bill Kasting, Kevin Sirois, Kelly Anne Carter- Erdman and Lori-Anne Muenzer. 

Cricket: The First National Sport of Canada - Discover Canada’s first national sport from the game’s origins to its founding in Alberta. The Exhibit will feature cricket equipment dating back to the early 1900’s and other great artifacts from Alberta’s cricket history.

Women's Golf Wear - See vintage golf attire worn by women and celebrate our Golf Tournament winners!

Special Olympics - Find out what makes this Olympic Games so Special to these athletes.

Jerri Duce - Step inside the life of an illustrious trick rider and queen of barrel racing.

Edmonton Grads - Come view relics from the legendary women`s basketball team dating back from 1915 to 1940. 
 

Paralympics and Disability Sports


Disability Sports - Showcased is this exhibit space are sports that have been adapted to allow disabled athletes to participate in the sports community both locally and at a national level. Featured right now are Wheelchair Racing, Goalball, and Disabled Golf.

Gymnastics - Learn about several different styles of gymnastics and view the attire used by local gymnasts.London 1948 - In honour of the Summer Olympic Games being held this summer in London, England, we have decided to exhibit some relics from the last London Olympic Games held in 1948. Ended January 2013.

55+/Senior Games - Revisit the 1998 Senior Games where Alberta's seniors competed with pride!  Ended January 2013.

Alberta Games - This exhibition takes a look at the beginning of Alberta's Summer and Winter Games.  Ended January 2013.

Sugarfoot - Ezzrett ‘Sugarfoot’ Anderson was a celebrity on and off the football field. Come visit the exhibition to learn more about his adventures and how Sugarfoot got his nickname.  Ended January 2013.

The 1952 Edmonton Waterloo Mercurys - This Team will always be remembered for winning the gold medal at the 1952 Winter Olympic Games in Oslo. Come relive their triumphs through artifacts from our Collection.  Ended January 2013.

George Woolf - This exhibition highlights the type of riding gear the "Iceman" would have used.  Ended January 2013.

Tennis – Check out this vintage tennis equipment from the 1930s. Ended January 2013.
 
Volleyball – This exhibit features the University of Alberta Pandas Volleyball teams 1994/95 - 1999/2000 that were inducted in the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.  Ended January 2013.

2013 Featured Artists - "100 Years of Sport History" Art Project!

Featured Artist – Sports Themed Pencil Art by Graphite Artist, Jeremy Bresciani. On display 2014
